Terminal Dungeon is inspired by classic old-school dungeon crawls: dangerous rooms, hidden traps, uncertain rewards, and stories that emerge from play.
Veteran players may recognize the rhythm: enter the dungeon, explore carefully, survive what you can, leave alive, recover, spend experience, and return stronger.
New players should know that this is different from many modern role-playing games. Combat is dangerous. Retreat is not failure. A partially explored dungeon is often a successful expedition.
Dead monsters may carry treasure. Doors may be trapped. Information matters. A wise adventurer searches, thinks, and chooses when to press deeper or turn back.
